The ŠKODA VISION GT computer-animated design model is one of the highlights of the “Design and Transformation” exhibition in Brussels. On the occasion of the Czech presidency of the Council of the EU, several Czech companies are presenting products and designs developed between 1990 and 2020 at this event. To create the VISION GT model, the ŠKODA design team was inspired by the ŠKODA 1100 OHC from 1957. The car manufacturer takes advantage of the prototype to send a clear signal of sportiness and sustainable emotion in the digital age. The digital VISION GT joins the tradition of the “Icons reinvent themselves” series, which includes iconic models from the company’s history, such as the 130 RS, FELICIA and RAPID MONTE CARLO.

Like the 1100 OHC, the VISION GT is a red, convertible racing car. However, it is designed as a single-seater, in which the driver sits in the center of the vehicle. Above the futuristic carbon steering wheel, flattened at the top and bottom, is a flat bar on the screen that doubles as a windshield. Important information is projected directly onto the visor of the driver’s helmet, similar to a head-up display. An active cockpit with a flexible suspension seat has been designed to optimally compensate for G-forces.
