ŠKODA presents its roadmap for sustainable mobility

ŠKODA AUTO is making progress towards the decarbonisation of the company, supported by the comprehensive action plan within the framework of the NEXT LEVEL – ŠKODA STRATEGY 2030 strategy. In addition to accelerating the expansion of electric mobility, the goal is to produce and manufacture in a sustainable battery electric vehicles, including supply chains. To achieve this, ŠKODA is committed to the use of recyclable materials in its cars and the systematic recycling of high-voltage batteries from electric vehicles, among other things.

ŠKODA VISION GT: a digital design model of an emotional all-electric racing car

The ŠKODA VISION GT computer-animated design model is one of the highlights of the “Design and Transformation” exhibition in Brussels. On the occasion of the Czech presidency of the Council of the EU, several Czech companies are presenting products and designs developed between 1990 and 2020 at this event. To create the VISION GT model, the ŠKODA design team was inspired by the ŠKODA 1100 OHC from 1957. The car manufacturer takes advantage of the prototype to send a clear signal of sportiness and sustainable emotion in the digital age. The digital VISION GT joins the tradition of the “Icons reinvent themselves” series, which includes iconic models from the company’s history, such as the 130 RS, FELICIA and RAPID MONTE CARLO. Like the 1100 OHC, the VISION GT is a red, convertible racing car. However, it is designed as a single-seater, in which the driver sits in the center of the vehicle. Above the futuristic carbon steering wheel, flattened at the top and bottom, is a flat bar on the screen that doubles as a windshield. Important information is projected directly onto the visor of the driver’s helmet, similar to a head-up display. An active cockpit with a flexible suspension seat has been designed to optimally compensate for G-forces.

Maverick Viñales, new ambassador of ŠKODA Spain

Viñales, champion of the CEV (Spanish Speed Championship) in 2010 and of the 125cc European Championship, made his debut in 2011 in the 125cc World Championship, where he won the title of ‘Rookie of the Year’ after achieving four wins and finishing 3rd in its first season. Two years later, in 2013, he won the Moto3 World Champion crown in Valencia. In 2014 he became the Moto2 ‘Rookie of the Year’ after winning four races. After a fleeting stint in Moto2, Viñales landed in MotoGP with Suzuki in 2016 and, for the third time in his career, won the award for best rookie, this time in the premier class. In 2017 he replaced Jorge Lorenzo in the Movistar Yamaha MotoGP team box, with a spectacular start, winning the first two races, in a team in which he remained until last season, with Fabio Quartararo as a teammate, until he took the step to Aprilia Racing, his current team, alongside Aleix Espargaró.
